Peacebuilding Programs

The Department of Peace Studies under the International College at Payap University was launched by the Institute of Religion, Culture, and Peace in 2009 to offer its first international Ph.D. Program in Peacebuilding at Payap University to train visionary peace scholars and peacemakers for the world. Despite many challenges, the Department offers quality peace education to the international community through various academic programs to meet different needs of students who are interested in studying peace. The programs include a Ph.D. program in Peacebuilding with two study plans, as well as a Master of Arts in Peace Studies, and a Certificate in Peace Studies. Each program provides structured academic training along with various opportunities for hands-on fieldwork, extracurricular professional and academic development activities, and community service through the Religion, Culture, and Peace Laboratory.
Since 2009, our programs have attracted students from more than 20 countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Tanzania, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. Most of the students are in their mid-career and from various professional backgrounds such as counsellors, government educators, journalists, lawyers, medical doctors, religious INGO leaders, refugee camp leaders, theologians, and university lecturers.
